Notes: Another thing that is very, very disturbing is the sense that there is a severability clause somewhere in the Sermon on the Mount…; Your “neighbor” is whoever God happens to put in your path–that’s the answer that was given in the parable; Jesus chose as an example a Samaritan (an infidel–a nonbeliever) to illustrate the godly principle that your “neighbor” is whoever God happens to put in your path; That’s something which has been repudiated by that same cohort of a church that embraces torture… because obviously you cannot torture your neighbor… if you’re bound by the Golden Rule, you cannot inflict torture on somebody, because obviously you would not want torture to be inflicted upon yourself; Another illustration of where we might be going is the situation in Germany as described in Eric Metaxas’ book on Dietrich Bonhoeffer: “Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy“; “Positive Christianity”–the state-focused, cultural Christianity of Germany in the early 20th Century; As early as 1933, Bonhoeffer knew that he was eventually going to be killed by this regime that he saw rising, which eventually killed him in 1945

Topics: The war in Iraq is profoundly immoral and profoundly unlawful; As a result of the lie about WMDs we have lost 5,000 Americans, 500,000 Iraqis, 3 million Iraqis have fled their country, and hundred and hundreds of billions of dollars in cash and property has been destroyed… the loss is irretrievable; The unlawfulness of it is that it’s not a declaration of war… it’s an authorization to use military force; This will let every future American president kill whoever he/she wants as long as the president can claim it’s being done to keep us safe from terrorism; If we had declared war on Iraq, or Al-Qaeda, or bin Laden, or whomever they think attacked us, there would be a human being or an authority figure to surrender–But when we declare war on an idea or an ideology, like “terrorism”, there is no one to surrender and the President can claim these war powers until the Congress takes them back from him; That is the hideous nature of how lies breed death and destruction and then take on a life of their own, “well we started the war, we have to finish it”; Napolitano’s book, “Lies the Government Told You“; The “War on Terror”, Patriot Act, Guantanamo Bay, and other usurpations of power; It would be prudent for us to be suspicious of the official government story of what happened on the day of 9/11; The JFK assassination–40 years later it is taken for granted that the government was involved in some way in the assassination of JFK… we will have an attitude like that about 9/11 at some point in the future; The government lies and we let them get away with the lying, and lying has become part of our culture… the government is immunized when it does it, and we expect them to do it again; A majority of the people on the 9/11 Commission admitted that the government lied and was not forthcoming; There hasn’t been a sufficient study of 9/11, the torture, Guantanamo Bay, etc.

Today I’m going to break my own rule and post an audio clip that is longer than 3 min., 3 sec. This is just too important not to post the entire thing…

So below is a 16 min., 36 sec. interview between Alex Jones and Mancow Muller. Mancow describes his experience of being waterboarded, why he did it, and his own personal story of how he went from thinking waterboarding was no big deal to understanding first hand that it’s a traumatic form of torture.

Here are a few words he uses to describe his experience: “horrific“, “instantaneous“, “absolutely torture“, and “felt like my brain had been short-circuited“.

Again, think of this being done to your loved one. What would you call it then? “Enhanced interrogation”, or torture?

How can you tell the difference between the wisdom of God and the wisdom of man?

It’s really not as complicated as modern American evangelicals have made it out to be. First, you unplug the T.V., turn off the radio, and shut down the computer. Then you still your heart, search the Scriptures, and ask God alone to speak.

You have to completely set aside any thoughts or opinions that are parroted over and over again from the government, mainstream media, friends and family, your favorite political commentators, and especially… your own mind.

Listen for the Holy Spirit alone to convict you according to the Word of Truth. That is the only place you will find answers that you can truly rely upon.

In regard to the torture debate, I have to ask myself one question: If the Bible and the Spirit of God were literally my only inputs (no mainstream media, government officials, political analysts, T.V. shows, newspapers, movies, Jack Bauer, or anything else), where would my convictions rest?

If I put Christ above country, do I end up with torture, or something radically different?
