Full Podcast: Exposing the Idolatrous Myth of the “Faith” of The Founding Fathers
Date: 10/11/10
Hosts: Dr. Future & Tom Bionic
Guest: Chris Pinto
Topics: Educating people is the key… the mainstream churches are welcoming people like David Barton with open arms–that’s what most Christians in America want to hear… they want to hear that the founders were Christians; The fact that these men were deceivers and antichrists–according to the Bible–is a very disturbing reality; It’s important that we as Christians present a biblical worldview concerning these things; How are the founders judged by the Word of God?… they aren’t going to be called “deists” or “agnostics”… they would be called “antichrists”, because the Bible says “who is antichrist but he that denies the Father and the Son?”–that’s what these men were; David Barton’s explanation of Thomas Jefferson’s religion; Why do we want an antichrist building a church or telling us about God?… we don’t; Christians that learn this information come to a crossroads… they have to choose to willingly accept the myth that makes them feel good, or accept the way of the cross and the message of Christ of the Bible… that’s the choice; The Bible says that “in the last days men would not hear sound doctrine, but would turn away their ears from the truth and would be turned unto fables”; This idea (myth) of the United States being founded as a Christian nation is the most deadly fable that we have in the church here in America, and it becomes an idol

Topics: Thomas Jefferson and the supernatural elements of the Bible; The Jefferson Bible is the quintessential picture of what most of the founders and the revolutionaries believed about Jesus Christ… it was originally called “The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth”–the title communicates what Jefferson thought… that Jesus of Nazareth was an ordinary man who had an excellent system of morality and led an exemplary life; In his bible, Jefferson takes out all of the supernatural elements… the virgin birth, the miracles of Christ, the resurrection, the entire book of Revelation–Jefferson said the book of Revelation was the “ravings of a maniac”; People will quote Jefferson and he’ll say some nice things about Jesus, and then they clip the quote and don’t tell you everything else he said; Jefferson would mock many of the teachings of Christ… said the apostles were full of stupidity and roguery, and that they were impostors; A recurring theme among the founding fathers–Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine–they all generally believed in a system of works-righteousness; Paul says that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that are perishing

Topics: The sacrifice of the saints that have come before us; They endured what they did not for the cause of their own liberty, but for the cause of the gospel; Jesus says “if any man would come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me“; The cross is given to a condemned man… it’s the acknowledgment that we are dead to this world; Paul says “I am crucified unto the world, and the world is crucified unto me“–that is the example that millions of saints in centuries past have given us; The documentary “A Lamp in the Dark“; We can see things getting darker and darker in this country; We can see the New World Order/Kingdom of Antichrist emerging day by day on the world scene–prophecy tells us it’s going to happen; Ultimately the only real salvation is eternal in the Lord Jesus Christ; There’s coming a day when all else is behind us and it’s time to suffer for our Lord, and nothing is going to change that; We need to get our hearts ready and be encouraged by the testimony of the saints

Topics: Quote from John Adams about philosophic reason, revelation, miracles, and prophecy; The virgin birth; Powers of reason and intuition; The idea of reason is specifically against the supernatural claims of the Bible; When Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence and he says “We hold these truths to be self-evident…”, what he’s saying is “these truths come from ourselves, they’re not revelation that has been given to us by God”… “our ideas come from our own selves”; As Paine says, “my own mind is my church, that’s my authority”–that’s what’s behind those words in the Declaration of Independence–they are saying “we reject the idea of the authority of the Bible”; They would make reference to the Bible and say there is truth in it… but that any “reasonable” person could come to these conclusions on their own; They wouldn’t have contended against those universal truths that you can find in the Bible… but as Paine says “It is the fable of Jesus Christ against which I contend”; Jefferson writes about the Ten Commandments and questions where they came from and whether or not they were inspired by God

Topics: These were all the gods and goddesses that were condemned by Yahweh throughout the Bible–Old Testament and New; The God of the Bible condemns all of these powers and principalities as being false gods–demons that are seducing the souls of men to drag them into hell; If Paul was transported to our time and place and was dropped into Washington, D.C., he would assume he was still in pagan Rome–he might even say that the city was wholly given over to idolatry; Carved idols everywhere in D.C.; If the founders of the American Revolution were trying to found a “Christian” nation, why would they have set all this stuff up?; The founders set in motion the design for the city–they weren’t envisioning a Christian icon of a U.S. capital; Architecture; Riddles in Stone

Topics: “Patriotic Christianity”; The American Revolution and founding of the United States of America; Country founded as a Christian nation?; A Christian revolution for the cause of Jesus Christ?; Ministries will have the Bible in one hand and the American flag in the other, as though they are equally important and that one represents the other; The Puritan Pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower were–for the most part–Bible believing Christians; The early American settlers that founded Harvard University openly professed Jesus Christ and the gospel; The American Revolutionaries (Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Paine, John Adams, etc.) and their philosophies/ideas were not at all about promoting the Bible or biblical Christianity; The farthest thing from their mind was establishing a Christian nation…

Ministry: New Life Church of Austin, TX
Full Podcast: Restoring the Apostles’ Doctrine
Date: 5/5/10
Speaker: Rodney Shaw
Topics: Restorationists would say that the model for the normal Christian experience is the New Testament; You don’t stop at the Pentecostal movement in 1901 or 1906, John Wesley, the Calvinist Awakenings, Calvin, Luther, or creeds and councils–you go to where the original Christian experience is documented (the New Testament); What is the model for normative Christian doctrine and experience, and who gets to decide? – Only the Scripture has the authority to answer that question; If there were no model, it would be up to every individual, church, and tradition to come up with what they feel is the normal Christian experience/doctrine; Unfortunately that is exactly what has happened over time

Topics: Challenge to take the Bible prayerfully and ask, “God, what do you want for my life?”; This is not a conversation about you and church history, it’s a conversation about you, the Bible, and God; You don’t seek to be faithful to a tradition, you seek to be faithful to this Revelation; Ask the question, “Is it in this Book, and does God want me to have it?”; If you pray that way, God will lead you exactly to what you need–God will reveal Himself to you; Restorationism – Restoring the Apostles’ doctrine; The Protestant Reformation said “sola scriptura” (Scripture alone) as well, but that’s not what they did; Principles about coming to Scripture and not tainting it by human reasoning or ideas

Date: 4/28/10

Topics: This story shows us how a group of people went on a journey, trying to get back to what the Scripture says; They found out that when they obeyed Scripture, it lead them to an understanding that Spirit baptism is evidenced with tongues, it’s part of the “new birth”, and the only way people were baptized was invoking the name of the Lord Jesus Christ; Parham, Seymour, Azusa Street, Ewart, Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Augustine–we glean from their insights, but our ultimate and sole authority is Scripture; Scripture is our starting point and our ending point; History of the United Pentecostal Church; Authentic practices, experiences, and beliefs revealed in the Bible; The ultimate conversation is not about the Reformation, or Azusa Street, or any other street… it’s about what has God revealed to us in His Word, and how we can be faithful to it
