I agree with Mr. Goldmaker regarding the Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church. I believe the Rapture will occur AFTER the persecution/tribulation/wrath of Satan (through Antichrist) but BEFORE the wrath of God, as indicated in the following chart:

Here’s an excerpt from a more detailed explanation of the view (posted on the Prewrath Resource Institute website):

“The timing issue can be settled if the beginning of the Day of the Lord can be determined within the frame work of end-time events. The Prewrath position acknowledges that the eschatological Day of the Lord will be signaled by a sign given in the sun, moon, and stars, a sign distinctly described in the eschatological book of Joel. Jesus indicates in the Olivet Discourse that His Parousia will immediately follow the sign Joel prophesied, which marks the inception of the eschatological Day of the Lord. Jesus also indicated in His revelation to John that Joel’s sign in the sun, moon, and stars will be the sign that announces the day in which His wrath begins, a sign given in the heavenlies that will be displayed at the breaking of the sixth seal.

Therefore, as one compares the six seals to the events outlined in the Olivet Discourse, one quickly sees that the rapture must occur after the Seventieth Week of Daniel begins, after the mid-point of that same Week has begun, and after Satan/Antichrist’s persecution of the Church is cut short (Matt. 24:22) when the sign of the eschatological Day of the Lord and the parousia of Christ is given in the sun, moon, and stars. The exact day or hour when the sixth seal will be broken is not detailed in the Scriptures (Matt. 24:36), but when that happens it will announce to the entire world the inception of the eschatological Day of the Lord.”

Regardless of where you stand on the timing of the Rapture, I believe this teaching from Charles Cooper is of utmost importance to the Church today.

For the majority of my life I held to a Pre-Trib Rapture position, but about 9 months ago I began to be challenged on the soundness of the Pre-Trib doctrine. When I started reading the Scriptures with more of a normal, natural, face-value approach I was quite shocked at what I discovered.

One thing I can tell you for certain is that it’s worth your time to look into the Pre-Wrath Rapture perspective. If you aren’t able to dive into a full-blown study of it right away, at least go to the prewrathrapture.com website and subscribe to the email updates. You’ll be sure to get some posts sent your way that will really make you think…

I believe the teaching presented by Mr. Cooper is highly relevant for both current and future generations of believers. Whether you think we will personally face Antichrist or not, the bottom line is that a generation of Christians most certainly will.

Either way, it’s a worthy endeavor to study what the believer’s response to intense persecution should be, both before and during the Great Tribulation. Whether it’s us that goes through it, or some future generation of “tribulation saints”, we need to be speaking and writing about these things so Christians know how to lean upon God, not their own understanding, during the End Times.

This will make more sense as you work through the series, and my hope and prayer is that you’ll stick with it, even if you don’t agree with everything Cooper is saying. This teaching, as with the previous series, is difficult and weighty… but in my own personal experience, blessings abound when you consider what God’s Word has to say about these matters.

This is the first of several posts dealing with the subject of whether or not there is a biblical basis for taking up arms against Antichrist and his minions during the Great Tribulation.

The reality is that a generation of Christians will face the most unprecedented persecution that the world has ever known. This is a very sobering reality. But it is one that we can’t ignore. What should the believer’s response be to this kind of persecution, and how can we prepare ahead of time so as not to wander from the Lord and lean upon our own understanding?

This will be a difficult teaching, especially for those that adhere to the pre-trib rapture position (which is what I believed in up until about 6 months ago). I pray that you will stick with this series until the end–I believe it has biblically sound, Spirit-led teaching about FAITH that you may not find anywhere else…

Pastor Charles Cooper is the founder and director of the Prewrath Resource Institute, which provides educational materials in support of the Prewrath Rapture perspective regarding end times Bible prophecy. After about a year of intense study on the timing of the Rapture, I believe the Prewrath position to be the most biblically defensible of all the primary rapture views that have been articulated (Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, Pre-Wrath, and Post-Trib).

The Prewrath perspective cites biblical evidence that a final generation of believers will face the wrath of Satan at the hands of Antichrist, but that Antichrist’s “great persecution” will be “cut short” when Christ returns to rapture the saints (sometime after the midpoint of Daniel’s 70th week). The primary assertion is that the Rapture will occur after the wrath of Antichrist, but before the wrath of God.

Speaking as someone who loosely held to a Pre-Trib position up until about a year ago, the Prewrath understanding has really jolted me out of a state of indifference to Bible prophecy. Studying what Scripture says will happen in the last days has caused my love for Christ to grow in ways I never knew possible. As I eagerly anticipate His return, I can’t help but marvel at God’s sovereign plan for the end of the age and His glorious Kingdom to come.

But the question arises… what if God calls us to be among the final generation that faces Antichrist? Will we be ready to stand firm in that day? 

One of the things that Pastor Cooper is passionate about is preparing current and future generations of believers for what will be the most intense persecution the world has ever known.
