Notes: Foreign policy; We went to war too easily with Iraq; The wars have been a disaster; The founders had given us a way to prevent these kind of wars–they said you’re not supposed to go to war unless you declare the war by the Congress, which is endorsed by the people–that would have prevented it; Iran is allowed to develop nuclear power and they have no evidence that they’ve ever enriched and transferred it to weaponry, so there’s a lot of propaganda going on… it’s very similar to the propaganda that led up to Iraq, and we should be very very cautious; Cutting all foreign aid–there’s no proper authority… for the most part, foreign aid takes money from the poor people of this country and gives it to rich people in the poor countries, because it becomes a political tool; Policy on Israel; Egypt and Mubarak; Great empires end through economic reasons–they go bankrupt; When Israel was started they had two principles: independence and self-reliance; Even Netanyahu said on the House floor just a few months ago that “we don’t need American troops to defend ourselves… we can take care of ourselves”; Arab Spring is not a healthy endorsement of our foreign policy because part of this is rebelling against dictators that we have propped up; We’ve been interfering in Iran since 1953–these things tend to backfire on the long run, there’s too many unintended consequences

Notes: Social issues; Gay marriage; Dr. Paul’s position on marriage is that the government ought to just stay out of it totally and completely and quit arguing about it; Dr. Paul does very well with social conservatives because he recognizes the principle of life and liberty; Probably the most important social/family issue today is the economy–the family is threatened by this bad economy; Taxes; The tax collection is a symptom of an appetite for big government, so the people have to change their mind… if the people want us to be the policemen of the world and have welfare from cradle to grave, then you can’t get rid of taxation and we’ll continue on until we’re totally bankrupt and our currency fails; But if you want a constitutional government–limited government–you really don’t have to have an income tax, but the people have to make up their mind; You have to get the economy growing again, and that means you have to cut spending… that’s why Dr. Paul has proposed cutting spending the first year by $1 trillion

Notes: States’ rights; We shouldn’t have 100,000 federal bureaucrats telling the states and the people what to do; Interstate commerce; We don’t want prior restraint with our 1st Amendment… we don’t want prior restraint in the business sector either; Property rights should be protected–states should do it; States can have agreements, but then if there’s an argument, then the federal government should be involved; If you’re a real strict property rights person… environments are protected because it’s property and you can’t ever damage or pollute your neighbor’s property, so it actually would have been a lot stricter than what happened in the Industrial Revolution where big business and big government got together and allowed too much pollution to occur; There’s nothing that says the federal government has the authority to regulate alcohol and drugs; The federal government should protect our right to do to our body what we want–the government can’t protect us from ourself; Dr. Paul is for seat belts, but against seat belt laws; A lot more people die from and there’s more danger with alcohol than there is with marijuana

Notes: Dr. Paul’s message has been the same, but the country is changing; He tried to prevent some wars from starting… now the American people are tired of the wars; He’s talked a lot about economics… that’s what really got him motivated to run for office; There was a lot of handwriting on the wall about financial bubbles and housing bubbles… now that they have come about, the credibility has built and the people are very worried about the economy, and that’s something Dr. Paul has talked about for a long, long time; Dr. Paul is doing the strongest among young people; Freedom is very appealing–it’s based on principle; Younger people tend to be more principled… later on we’re taught to blend in and mesh in and go along with the crowd; The role that the federal government should play in people’s lives is very minimal… we have a document that tells us exactly what it should be, and that’s the Constitution; Article 1, Section 8; The purpose of the federal government is to preserve liberty, to allow people to run their own lives, to spend their own money…

Notes: All the contributors to LewRockwell.com agree that people ought to be free to live the lives they want to live; However people want to live–as long as they’re not trespassing on others or harming other people’s rights–as Ron Paul says, “freedom brings us together”; We can all agree on freedom… we may not agree with what we do with our freedom, that’s ok; Diversity is not only ok… it’s wonderful–as long as it doesn’t have the ability to cost shift its choices to the neighbor; Ron Paul has always used his political office as an educational pulpit… he really is changing people’s minds; Auditing the Fed

Notes: Bailouts of the banks… both in Europe and in this country we have vast economic trouble because we live in sort of a “bankocracy”; When they’re ready to go bankrupt… they should be left to go bankrupt; Ron Paul’s book “End the Fed“; Ron Paul has actually communicated to regular Americans not only that the Federal Reserve is a bad institution, and that it represents the big banks, but it’s also ripping us off; Our country can be saved–we don’t have to decline into more poverty and authoritarianism, but it requires people learning and changing; Taxes is shorthand for wealth destruction; The way they will raise taxes is not going to affect the super rich… what it’s designed to do is to crush young entrepreneurs and up-and-coming businesses; If there’s anything that the establishment hates, it’s competition from young up-and-coming people

Notes: The American government–the vast oligarchy of government–is the biggest, richest, most powerful government in the history of the world by many magnitudes; There’s never been a bureaucracy anything like this that sits on the whole globe, and on our backs here at home too; What’s required is a change of people’s mentalities–the ideas that people hold; If those ideas change–and in a crisis like we’re in now–people’s minds can change, and that would enable somebody like Ron Paul, who has the right ideas, to actually start to dismantle this whole thing; Obama and Bush represent vast amounts of interest groups and billionaires and so forth, who actually are running everything–not the president, not the congress–it’s the interest groups that are ripping us off who are actually making the decisions; We get separated into Democrat vs. Republican or a left vs. right, when it really is the “ins” vs. the “outs”; Divide and Conquer–they can better rule us if they get us fighting each other; We can’t look to politics as our salvation–our salvation isn’t going to come out of Washington D.C. – It requires a change of heart on behalf of the American people; We need to cut down the role of government in our lives because it’s strangling us–it’s got its boot on our neck; We don’t live in a free country anymore; We have a police state… we have a president who claims the power–as did Bush–to name you as a bad guy in a secret document, kidnap you, take you to a secret prison, torture you, and execute you, all in secret, because he says you’re a bad guy… no trial, no nothing

Andrew Napolitano interviews Ron Paul about active duty and retired military support for his campaign, and just how high the cost of war really is…

Show: Ron Paul 2012 Podcast
Full Podcast: Congressman Ron Paul on Fox Business’ Freedom Watch (9/26/2011)
Date: 9/26/11
Host: Andrew Napolitano
Guest: Ron Paul
Notes: There’s another group of young people who support Ron Paul overwhelmingly… members of the United States Military; Recent editorial called “You Want Him” in a military newspaper; Editorial reflected that Dr. Paul gets a larger percentage of political contributions from active duty and retired military than the other Republican candidates combined; Are they telling us something?; Their lives are on the line… they’ve been ripped off, they’ve been sent over there…; The services are so worn down… nobody talks about the cost in human life–8,000 Americans have died in these wars that are illegal–not declared; 40,000 severe injuries; The military like the idea of somebody being cautious; Dr. Paul was looking for somebody cautious in 1965 when LBJ escalated the Vietnam War… he can identify with why active military people are sympathetic to what he’s saying; As wrong as it was for George W. Bush to have invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, that evil was compounded by paying for it on the credit card; Even after we’re gone, we’ll still owe 2 trillion dollars for a war that will have been history and will not have made us any freer, or any safer; They went into war the wrong way–the war wasn’t necessary for our national security; Most wars are paid for through debasement of the currency (inflating the currency); You should be absolutely cautious about going to war because that has economic consequences

Topics: All presidents love war–except if Ron Paul became president–because they know that war is the health of the state; The people will pay more taxes, give up their liberty, and unite behind the soldiers no matter what the outcome; They falsely believe that war will help the economy… it’s a myth that has been perpetrated since Woodrow Wilson, reinforced by FDR, used by George W. Bush, and we’re about to see if Barack Obama can use it; Glenn Beck–”another Oklahoma City attack to be blamed on the liberty movement”; False-flag terror; This government would welcome the type of conflagration that we have seen in the past if it would help it become more authoritarian; The president is going to have to rule by decree, and the easiest way for him to rule by decree is to accompany his decree with fear… the easiest way to get that fear is to look the other way if somebody assaults us; Building 7; Geraldo Rivera; Hard to believe it came down by itself; Gratified to see Geraldo Rivera investigating it, gratified to see that people across the board are interested; Twenty years from now people will look at 9/11 the way we look at the assassination of JFK today–it couldn’t possibly have been done the way the government told us
