The PrisonPlanet.com article: “Ex-Israeli Intelligence Officer: “Pearl Harbor” Style Attack Will Be Pretext For War On Iran“; Expect something like that to happen… and we’ll be told who to blame… and only if you know your history, will you know otherwise; That’s what psychopaths do when they’re in elected office

The PrisonPlanet.com article: “Ex-Israeli Intelligence Officer: “Pearl Harbor” Style Attack Will Be Pretext For War On Iran“… Which is very interesting when we think about what we had with the USS Liberty and how it was staged to be an event to get us into the Six-Day War

Partial transcript:
A strong national defense isn’t provided when we become the policemen of the world… where we get involved in the internal affairs of other nations, or whether we go in and change government… have regime changes… that undermines our national defense; We get involved in wars that aren’t declared… we don’t know why we’re there… we don’t know when they’re over; What they like to do is describe what I’m talking about as isolationism; Isolationism is more of people who want trade barriers, walls around us, you can’t go and come, and put sanctions on other countries; The same individuals that complain about my foreign policy of being non-intervention… they’re the ones who are the very first to put on sanctions; Sanctions are an act of war… can you imagine if a country put sanctions on us, and wouldn’t allow oil to come in?… That would be an act of war; This is why I bring up the subject of the Golden Rule… if we don’t want people to ban oil imports to our country, why should we do that to another country? I don’t know why that is such a negative term for people to boo that; If you look at the 6 or 7 large religions of the history of the world, in one way or another they recognize this whole idea that you treat people the way you want to be treated

I want to cut money–overseas money–that’s what I want to do; I want to cut military money, I don’t want to cut defense money; I want to bring the troops home… I’d probably have more bases here at home; We were closing them down in the 1990′s and building them overseas–that’s how we got into trouble; We would save a lot more money and have a stronger national defense, and that’s what we should do; But to say that we would be weaker is absolutely wrong; The military is behind me more than the others–I get twice as much money from the active military duties than all the other candidates put together… so they’re saying that I’m on the right track–they’re sick and tired of those wars… they’re sick and tired of the nation building and the policing activity; There’s a difference between military spending and defense spending; Just cause you spend a billion dollars on an embassy in Baghdad bigger than the Vatican–you consider that defense spending… I consider that waste; I’d cut some of this military spending… like Eisenhower advised us… “watch out for the military industrial complex”; Defend this country–we have to have a strong national defense, but we don’t get strength by diluting ourselves in 900 bases–130 countries–that is where the problem is; There is a difference between just military spending and defense spending; We’re supposed to be conservatives–spend less money

Partial transcript:
The easiest place to cut–for all Americans–should be this wild, runaway spending overseas–that’s where we need to cut; If you do that, and change the military budget, you don’t give up one penny of national defense, because you can have more defense with less money if we quit this nation building and the policemen of the world–we don’t need to be doing that; That means we’d be bringing a lot of troops back home; The military gives me the most amount of money… twice as much as all the other candidates; Maybe they’re tired of those wars as well; We’re supposedly over there to defend our Constitution… but how do you go to war that’s not declared under the rules of the Constitution? How can these be constitutional wars?; Just think how simple this problem could be solved… don’t go to war unless the Congress declares it

MLK, Jr. And Ron Paul: Men Of Conscience

Posted by on Tuesday, 17 January, 2012

“Cowardice asks the question – is it safe?
Expediency asks the question – is it politic?
Vanity asks the question – is it popular?
But conscience asks the question – is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position
that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;
but one must take it because it is right.”

- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Partial transcript: MLK, Jr.: “A man of conscience can never be a consensus leader. He doesn’t take a stand in order to search for consensus… he’s ultimately a molder of consensus, and I’ve always said that the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and moments of convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and moments of controversy.”; Ron Paul: ”Maybe we oughta consider a Golden Rule in foreign policy… don’t do to other nations what we don’t want to have them do to us. We endlessly bomb these countries, and then we wonder why they get upset with us? And yet it continues on and on. It’s warmongering… they’re building up for another war against Iran and people can’t wait to get in another war. This country doesn’t need another war… we need to quit the ones we’re in… we need to save the money, and bring our troops home.”

Ron Paul, The Religious Right, And The Golden Rule – Part 1

Posted by on Thursday, 12 January, 2012

Notes: The religious right’s pro-war associations… staunchly anti-Paul; Some of Ron Paul’s most vicious criticism has come from the religious right; Values Voter Summit; The Dreyfus affair in France; Are we in danger of the same thing happening with the evangelical conservative forces here?; There seems to have been a full-blown identification between the military on the one hand and the body of Christ on the other, and there’s a complete repudiation of the idea of the Golden Rule as it applies to people who are not part of our tribe (tribe in this instance being defined as the nation state, or being defined as a particular element of the nation state); A study of attitudes both domestically and internationally with respect to the question of torture… of all the social cohorts who were polled, the one that tested highest in support of torture was American evangelical Christians

Show: Black Op Radio
Full Podcast: Show #521 Part 1 – Gov. Jesse Ventura
Date: 4/7/11
Host:
Len Osanic
Guest: Jesse Ventura
Notes: Operation Northwoods; The Gulf of Tonkin incident was the incident that got us into the Vietnam War; Our government and our media told us that the North Vietnamese had fired at two of our ships; Now it turns out that that wasn’t true–it never happened; That’s what put ground troops into Vietnam, where ultimately 58,000 of Ventura’s generation was killed–and probably a million Vietnamese or more killed–all over an event that never happened; 9/11; Operation Northwoods was put forward to President Kennedy by the Joint Chiefs, and their suggestion in a nutshell was that the CIA and our military were gonna attack certain cities, and probably shoot down a plane, and they were gonna blame it all on the Cubans, so that it would get the country in an uproar to support an invasion of Cuba; If that was on the table in 1961, do you think that it wasn’t on the table in 2001?; Kennedy wouldn’t do it, but maybe George Bush decided he would…

Notes:
Foreign policy; We went to war too easily with Iraq; The wars have been a disaster; The founders had given us a way to prevent these kind of wars–they said you’re not supposed to go to war unless you declare the war by the Congress, which is endorsed by the people–that would have prevented it; Iran is allowed to develop nuclear power and they have no evidence that they’ve ever enriched and transferred it to weaponry, so there’s a lot of propaganda going on… it’s very similar to the propaganda that led up to Iraq, and we should be very very cautious; Cutting all foreign aid–there’s no proper authority… for the most part, foreign aid takes money from the poor people of this country and gives it to rich people in the poor countries, because it becomes a political tool; Policy on Israel; Egypt and Mubarak; Great empires end through economic reasons–they go bankrupt; When Israel was started they had two principles: independence and self-reliance; Even Netanyahu said on the House floor just a few months ago that “we don’t need American troops to defend ourselves… we can take care of ourselves”; Arab Spring is not a healthy endorsement of our foreign policy because part of this is rebelling against dictators that we have propped up; We’ve been interfering in Iran since 1953–these things tend to backfire on the long run, there’s too many unintended consequences

Notes:
Dr. Paul’s message has been the same, but the country is changing; He tried to prevent some wars from starting… now the American people are tired of the wars; He’s talked a lot about economics… that’s what really got him motivated to run for office; There was a lot of handwriting on the wall about financial bubbles and housing bubbles… now that they have come about, the credibility has built and the people are very worried about the economy, and that’s something Dr. Paul has talked about for a long, long time; Dr. Paul is doing the strongest among young people; Freedom is very appealing–it’s based on principle; Younger people tend to be more principled… later on we’re taught to blend in and mesh in and go along with the crowd; The role that the federal government should play in people’s lives is very minimal… we have a document that tells us exactly what it should be, and that’s the Constitution; Article 1, Section 8; The purpose of the federal government is to preserve liberty, to allow people to run their own lives, to spend their own money…

Greg Boyd: The Sword And The Cross – Part 8

Posted by on Friday, 28 October, 2011

Greg Boyd, pastor of Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul, MN compares the kingdom of the world to the kingdom of God

[Part 8 of an ongoing series...]

Ministry: Woodland Hills Church
Full Podcast: Taking America Back for God?
Date: 4/18/04
Speaker: Greg Boyd
Notes: How could the cross and the sword become so fused together?; Just war theory is a kingdom of the world thing; As a kingdom of God person, we have to at least have enough healthy distance to ask questions that maybe others who are more sold out to the kingdom of the world would never think of asking; As a kingdom of God person, your central defining mission in life is to demonstrate Calvary-like love to the Iraqi people [and to all people]… to be willing to die for them even if they are your political enemies–to be willing to serve them, that’s our distinctive call; It should grieve us cause those souls are as precious as our souls–that’s the unique angle of the kingdom of God

Ron Paul On Military Donations And The Cost Of War

Posted by on Tuesday, 27 September, 2011

Andrew Napolitano interviews Ron Paul about active duty and retired military support for his campaign, and just how high the cost of war really is…

Show: Ron Paul 2012 Podcast
Full Podcast: Congressman Ron Paul on Fox Business’ Freedom Watch (9/26/2011)
Date: 9/26/11
Host: Andrew Napolitano
Guest:
Ron Paul
Notes:
There’s another group of young people who support Ron Paul overwhelmingly… members of the United States Military; Recent editorial called “You Want Him” in a military newspaper; Editorial reflected that Dr. Paul gets a larger percentage of political contributions from active duty and retired military than the other Republican candidates combined; Are they telling us something?; Their lives are on the line… they’ve been ripped off, they’ve been sent over there…; The services are so worn down… nobody talks about the cost in human life–8,000 Americans have died in these wars that are illegal–not declared; 40,000 severe injuries; The military like the idea of somebody being cautious; Dr. Paul was looking for somebody cautious in 1965 when LBJ escalated the Vietnam War… he can identify with why active military people are sympathetic to what he’s saying; As wrong as it was for George W. Bush to have invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, that evil was compounded by paying for it on the credit card; Even after we’re gone, we’ll still owe 2 trillion dollars for a war that will have been history and will not have made us any freer, or any safer; They went into war the wrong way–the war wasn’t necessary for our national security; Most wars are paid for through debasement of the currency (inflating the currency); You should be absolutely cautious about going to war because that has economic consequences

The Constantinian Compromise

Posted by on Saturday, 24 September, 2011

Tony Campolo discusses the change in the Christian church after 300 years of nonviolent resistance/pacifism, as it first began to embrace war under the Emperor Constantine.

Show: Across the Pond
Full Podcast: Campolo – Repeat: Peace Movements Part II (3/26/10)
Host: Tony Campolo
Notes: For the first 300 years of its existence… Christians were non-belligerents (they were not in the army); Those who became Christians often left the army if they were already in the army; For the first 300 years, the Christian church preached nonviolent resistance/pacifism; Why the change?; Up until the time of the Emperor Constantine, the church had been a persecuted minority; Constantine wanted to unify the Roman Empire… one of the ways of unifying the empire was to create a common, universal religion–he chose Christianity; “In this sign, conquer”; He became a “Christian” and ordered that Christianity become the “official religion” of the empire; The Christians were thrilled… no longer were they a persecuted minority; Overnight, they had been designated as “the moral majority”; But that recognition and legitimation came at a price… if you are going to get the support of the empire, then you’re going to have to support the empire in return, which the church readily did; In supporting the empire, they had to in fact support the empire’s militarism… and that’s when it all changed; It changed under Constantine, it changed at the Council of Nicaea… from then on, the church now supported war, and it remained only for Augustine to legitimate this with just war theory; There is no historian that will argue… for the first 300 years the church was pacifist, and it supported nonviolent resistance; If you go to the ancient writings, every one of them pronounces judgment against war and says Christians cannot participate in the army; There is nothing that polluted and ruined the church more than the Constantinian Compromise
